In 2016, at UC Berkeley, 300 students enrolled for the Foundation of Data Sciences program, a number that grew to over 1,000 in 2017. And, they aren’t alone. In 2017, the University of San Diego used a $75 million donation to create a brand new data sciences institute. The growing interest in data sciences is likely to only continue rising in the coming years.
